Development and testing of a new type of „barefoot running shoe“: The freeheel runningpad
نویسندگان
چکیده
Common barefoot running shoes or minimal footwear have one or several of the following properties/deficiencies, depending on the type and brand and personal taste: Coverage of a considerable fraction of the foot’s surface with textile/plastic leading to sub-optimal foot climate Considerable weight for a true “barefoot shoe” Toe pockets that do not fit with nonstandard feet Considerable size and thickness, in particular in the heel section of the protective sole for a true “barefoot shoe” Positive drop and therefore a change in the biomechanics compared to barefoot running. We wanted to design a new type of shoe that would be as close as possible to “real” barefoot running” and thereby overcome one or several of these perceived deficiencies. Whether this would lead to a reduction or increase in running related injuries and how to best train with the new shoes is not within the scope of this article.

Objective: Unstable shoes have been recommended to osteoarthritis patients in order to reduce walking injuries. The aim of this study was to test the effect of unstable shoe on biomechanical selected variables related to injury during stanse phase of running. Materials & Methods: Twenty five healthy young male students available men (21±2.27years) participated in this study. Subjects were as...

Background: Nowadays, unstable shoes have been developed in motor activities among people. The purpose of this study was to test the effect of unstable shoes on lower extremity joints power during stance phase of running. Methods: In this semi experimental study, 30 subjects (age of 21±2.27 years, mass of 72.3±8.84 kg, height of 176.9±5.39 cm) ran in barefoot, unstable and control sho...
متن کاملEffect of unstable shoes on ground reaction force parameters during stance phase of running
Introduction: 24-67% of recreational runners suffer from running-related injuries. The purpose of this study was to test the effect of unstable shoes on selected ground reaction force (GRF) parameters during stance phase of running. Method: 20 healthy men (age of 21±2.27 years, height of 176.93±5.39 cm, and mass of 72.30±8.84 kg) ran on the force plate placed in the middle of 15 m runway in ba...
متن کاملEffects of footwear and strike type on running economy.
PURPOSE This study tests if running economy differs in minimal shoes versus standard running shoes with cushioned elevated heels and arch supports and in forefoot versus rearfoot strike gaits. METHODS We measured the cost of transport (mL O(2)·kg(-1)·m(-1)) in subjects who habitually run in minimal shoes or barefoot while they were running at 3.0 m·s(-1) on a treadmill during forefoot and rea...
متن کاملRunning in a minimalist and lightweight shoe is not the same as running barefoot: a biomechanical study.
AIM The purpose of this study was to determine the changes in running mechanics that occur when highly trained runners run barefoot and in a minimalist shoe, and specifically if running in a minimalist shoe replicates barefoot running. METHODS Ground reaction force data and kinematics were collected from 22 highly trained runners during overground running while barefoot and in three shod cond...
